French rapper Monsieur R, aka Richard Makela, has been taken to court for explicit lyrics which compare France to a prostitute. The rapper faces charges up to 75,000 euros, about $94,000. From the article: "Makela, who was born in Belgium and came to France aged 14, told Le Parisien he did not target any particular group but rapped against 'the system'. 'You can have a critical view of the French state without being anti-French or racist.'"

    Just remix it and change \'France\' to \'America\'. He\'d probably get a medal... if not a platinum album.

      Yes, the problem is that the French political system is so far removed from the average French citizen. Some of the prominent politicians have never been to the ghettos, consider immigrants second class citizens, and young people a nuisance.
