Posted By TechnologyExpert 11 months, 1 week ago in Arts & EntertainmentWhen Radiohead announced that the price of downloads of its new album In Rainbows would be "up to you," I was wondering how many would download for free. Apparently, most people ... by a wide margin.

While the Eagles will tour at $100.00 for crappy tickets these guys give there music away.
Sure, just a typical rock band!
"Jonny Greenwood (that's Radiohead's musical director and guitarist) was hired by the BBC as its composer in residence in May 2004, a job which gave him the opportunity to compose several pieces for symphony orchestra, piano and/or Ondes Martenot"
These are not your average musicians. This is thinking man's music. Nothing simple or commercial ("Creep" was a fluke). Their previous albums sold well because many like to be challenged. The way someone responds to an album like "Kid A" or "OK Computer" says a lot about their ability to reason. Can you accept something you have never heard the likes of before?

I'll let you get back to listening to your Britney Spears. LMAO.
OK Computer was probably the last original CD in many many years from any band. Radiohead is a great band.

--"I am surprised by the number of freeloaders," said Fred Wilson, managing partner of Union Square Ventures and well-known music aficionado. "The stories to date about the In Rainbows 'pick your price' download offer have been much more optimistic. I paid $5 U.S. and had no reluctance whatsoever to take out my card and pay. It's a fantastic record, the best thing they've done in years. But, this shows pretty conclusively that the majority of music consumers feel that digital recorded music should be free and is not worth paying for. --
Hmm...So they're basing their judgement as to how many people are "freeloaders" on the number of downloads? What were the payment options? Maybe some people don't have a credit card for some reason or another?

Why pay when you can get it for free, what is so hard to understand about that? Some people who are into collecting original CDs will pay their inflated prices but if all you want to do is listen to a couple of songs you just go p2p. You have the option of whatever quality you want and you can download as often as you want so it frees up hard drive space as you don't need to keep gigs of songs in storage. Why is the music industry so slow in realizing it's over. Performers now need to work for a living again.

The best that I've loved them singing is http://lyrics.uz/wlyuh-radiohead.html
As for free/paid confusion, my opinion is that every fan should pay for the music he enjoys. All the singers also need some money.
