Right, chevy! AND they were/are excellent guitarists as well. Equally at home in electric or accoustic "wooden" music, they surely were/are one of the most talented groups around, even better when Neil Young chipped in.

There is no question Neil makes them better (he brings music that is newer than 30 years old). However, when Neil joins them, the price of the tickets doubles.

there is a question on that -- Young does make them edgier and more rock - rock, but CS&N on their own are probably the most melodic group around.

My sweet pal, did you know Steve played in a blue-grass group in Greenwich Village (New York City) called The Four Winds.

I played in the same "coffee house." Steve left for the west coast in '65, formed the Buffalo Springfield, the rest is history. If you ever hear the LP album, "Blue Bird" is played with Charley Chan on banjo. How do I know Charley was on banjo? He taught me my first A-Minor riff in the basement of the Winds. He was also the five-string banjo-player in the group. The think Crosby, Stills, and Nash make great music.

All came from the folk scene, that's why Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, et al knew him so well.

Southern Cross is about his beautiful blue-water wind machine! I used to have a 28-footer, "Farhson," my free-haulin', wind-drivin', boogie-woogie babe. In navagational terms, the Southern Cross is also a star-bearing "dead reckoning" (DR) Ol' sea shanty 'bout those who reckon to death...

Amazingly, something N2N and I agree on --

CSN are, imho, one of the best and most enduring groups -- while many, if not most, of their songs are pretty simple, the beautiful harmonies just elevate them to sublime.

                  Thanks.
