I remember the concert tour when this song originally came out a long time ago (the Strong Persuader Album as I recall). He was great live.

A friend of mine went to see him,i think it was that same tour, seven - eight years ago ? It was here in Cedar Rapids at a place called the Paramount theater. He hadn't seen him before, lol, and didn't know what to expect. The next time i saw the guy he was ready to cut his hair, get rid of all his metal gear, trade in his Jackson guitar and marshall amp,get a feander and start playing the blues. He said he hadn't seen a more talented performer in a long, long time. That to me is part of the appeal of people like Robert Cray, they can cross over to fans of all genres and entertain everyone equally.

Good to see you here dropkick.Glad you enjoyed.

I hate to admit it because it shows my age, but that tour was like 20 years ago. Cray is great and he's been around for a long time. I don't think that most people realize just how long. I guess that many of the great Blues musicians are relatively obscure in the world of music, outside of the fan community. Nice choice, baddad. I'll remember that you have good taste in music. :)

Robert Cray seldom puts a foot wrong (that doesn't sound right, I know, but I'm certain you get my meaning!)

Great performer, underrated, I reckon. Good track, there, bd.

He is a great player and i agree with you that he is underrated.

I heard him in concert back in 1987, I think. He had some success with the album he had out then but he hasn't received the attention he deserves.

avatar

Unfortunately you are right about not getting the attention he deserves, and it is a shame.

Catch him live if you can. I can assure everyone that it's a great show.

Cray, working with the American Friends Service Committee on their Eyes Wide Open project, wrote and performed a fantastic anti-war ballad, "Twenty."
