I'd not linked the metal scene with anything from this part of the world, hitherto, bd, but this proves how wrong I was!

The genre goes from Norway to Japan, and from Alaska to New Zealand, so why not South Africa, too? Great stuff.

See, I like the heavy instrumental parts of metal but the vocals, most often, just don't do it for me. It's not just these guys in particular, but so many bands.

I can totally appreciate what it takes to get up & perform, though.

I agree puffin. I loved the beat but really trying to get used to the death metal? angry metal? Don't know what it's called.

It seems as though there is a different sub genre of metal being created daily, death metal, black metal, power metal, heavy metal, lol,to me it is all metal.

The speed of metal today, that and the technical expertise of some of it,is what gets my blood pressure up..i'm hooked.I am getting a little burnt on the vocals,as are many other people but it is part of the music now,Lot of anger being reflected in the music.I wonder what the next change will be be,it is interesting to watch and listen to.

I like a lot of it no doubt but it just takes me time to adjust to some singers. But this new metal surwe does seem to make bands like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath tame:).Ever since the heavy metal bands of the early 70's and KISS, Alice Cooper you wonder what can be thought of.But that's the greatness of what's termed "Rock and Roll."There's something for everybody. Look at the range we've had the last 2 weeks.:)

It's the end of civilization again.LOL

I agree rdy,it is the end of civilization, but i feel fine. There is more rock(music in general)than a person can listen to in a life time, believe me i have tried and am only making a small dent. The internet is one of the best things to happen to music.Bands that there was virtually no access to before is just a couple of keystrokes away.

What do you think of putting up the first metal song tomorrow,or what you consider to be the first metal? Are you out there greenmac?

BadDad, The new acoustic EP from Walls of Jericho came out yesterday! 2.99 at Best Buy this week only. I had to go to three Best Buy stores just to find it.

Here is the albums website, complete with samplers.

Excellent link, excellent band. I'd not seen that "sampling" technique before of some of the songs on the album. "House of the Rising Sun" outstanding, as were others. Good call, tang.

You kids, lol,to old,,never!!I am probably older than both of you.Its ok ranchhand, all of it isn't for everyone, but there are so many different types of hard rock and metal that it seems there is something in the mix that reaches everyone. That is part of the beauty of music.

It always seems I can find some part in a song I can take.

So after listening carefully baddad , I think this is a Coal Chamber cover . It's just done at a different tempo . I just can't remember the name of the song . If it's not , it's close . Probably thier second album [ cd ] . What do you think ?
